Free for a week: Breaking the cycle of emotionally based school avoidance (refusal)

This week’s free course is “Break the Cycle of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (School Refusal)”

During the course, you’ll learn about how the cycle of school avoidance develops, and the part we may unwittingly play in that, as well as exploring a range of simple steps that you can take, alongside families, to support children to return to school and engage regularly and meaningfully; helping school turn from a place of fear to a place of safety for the child.

It’s led by one of our director Dr Pooky Knightsmith and is a series of short video modules which can be completed within an hour if you binge watch; though it will take longer to implement of course!  And yes, you DO get a certificate at the end….

We hope you find it helpful.  We’ve also added a forum and a short activity at the end of the course to help you reflect on your learning.  I’d love feedback on the course, the site and the new features as we’re learning more and more every day as people engage with the site.

This course will be free until 5pm on 30th April 2020.  You are welcome to share information about the course with anyone you think would benefit from it.

  1. Great course, I have a feeling that once we go back to school (whenever that may be) we will have a lot of children (and possibly adults) who will need these coping strategies.
