Making best use of transition days

In this module, Matt explains that many schools use the July transition days – whereby pupils visit their new secondary school – as an opportunity to test pupils in English and maths in order to get baseline data for setting classes and writing targets.  Other schools, meanwhile, give their new pupils an exciting, high octane ride through the very best that secondary school has to offer.  Matt will argue that both approaches can be harmful, and he will offer his suggestions on how to make best use of this precious time.
